Is Switzerland   a tax haven?

Switzerland is a tax haven for some categories of residents and some types of companies. For the Swiss themselves, it is not a real tax haven, though we would have a long way to go to reach the extortionate rates of taxation imposed in Scandinavia.

Personal Taxation
Switzerland is one of the world's best tax havens for people who can live off their wealth without working in Switzerland, whether their income is generated from rents, stocks, bonds or investments. These people are usually made very welcome in Switzerland, and the only tax they pay is a fixed lump sum   proportional to the rents they pay in Switzerland. Many sport stars, actors and industrialists have used this excellent option which allows them to live in a real tax haven in the center of Europe, with every service they could ever want in a very safe and secure environment. What Caribbean island can beat that?

Company Taxation
Ordinary Swiss companies pay taxes at varying rates, depending on certain factors. However, Swiss company tax is not zero and thus Switzerland is not a Banana republic tax haven.  But in some cases, Swiss companies can pay very low taxes, about   9% of their income (profit), all inclusive. This is true for holding companies and domiciliary companies which have interests only outside Switzerland and are incorporated in favourable cantons.
