Introduction

Switzerland, the beautiful island of order and prosperity in the middle of the sea .. 68 KB

Switzerland, according to most statistics, should be on top of the world. The World Bank lists it as the richest country in the world in terms of income per capita. It has the lowest inflation and unemployment rate of any industrialised country, and the second lowest interest rate after Japan. It has the world's third biggest gold reserves and one of the world's lowest crime rates. Most crime in Switzerland is commited by foreigners, and, apart from a brief civil war in 1847, Switzerland has not fought a war since the 15th century.

The Financial Times, 1st August 1998

As an  haven of low taxes, political stability, order and security in the center of Europe, Switzerland  has long been favored by people from all over  the world who go there to escape confiscatory taxes, wars and insecurity. Many resources are available for the upper-class foreigner in Switzerland and its international travel connections are among the best in the world.

Sixty percent of Switzerland's land mass is mountains, so most of the population live on the great plains north of the Alps. We have no natural resources in Switzerland, except for the beauty of the country and its hard-working, reliable and educated people.

The country is small, so it is very easy to get from one part to another very quickly. Many people live in one city and commute to work in another. The wealthy in Switzerland tend to live in small, select communities where they can enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the low taxes.
