The recent introduction of new banknotes in Switzerland is a telltale sign that entry into the European Monetary Union (EMU) is neither for tomorrow nor for the day after. The Swiss love their money and so do many other people. And indeed, Swiss bank notes are quite something: they bear so many paper and ink tricks to fool counterfeiters that the Swiss National Bank printed an explanatory brochure for each monetary unit.
