Switzerland is one of the smallest countries in Europe. It is also one of the most crowded. Shaped like a piggy bank, two thirds of the territory consists of scarcely populated mountains. Cities and industries are concentrated in the banana-shaped plain that stretches from Geneva to Zurich, a densely populated area where most of Switzerland’s 7 million inhabitants live.
