Moore

The man who incarnated James Bond has lived in Crans-Montana since the end of his acting career. Roger Moore was born in London in 1927. His father was a police officer. He attended an arts school and landed a few minor roles in the forties. He was studying at the Royal Academy of Drama when he was drafted into the British Army stationed in Germany since the end of the Second World War. In 1953, Roger Moore left for the United States and got a contract with MGM for the TV series Ivanhoe and Maverick. He rose to fame with the success of his starring role in the series The Saint.

In 1972, he replaced Sean Connery as James Bond in the film Live and Let Die. This would be the first of seven James Bond films with Roger Moore. Right up until his last appearance in A View to a Kill in 1985, the actor distinguished himself with a cool composure that was very near to the original concept of Ian Fleming, the "father" of James Bond. His brilliant acting career earned him a medal of honor from the British government in March, 1999.

After the death of his friend Audrey Hepburn, the actor took over as ambassador for UNICEF. Since then, Roger Moore has traveled around the world from Crans-Montana, in Valais, where he has taken up residence. With the added benefit of low taxation, he can devote time to his favorite sport, skiing. He is a true king of the slopes at this ski resort at the heart of the Alps. The actor often travels to Gstaad, where he attends the Eagle Club, a circle of celebrities who have a particular fondness for the mountains. So don't be surprised if you happen to run into the former James Bond in Zermatt or one of the other posh ski resorts of the Valais Alps.
