Private shooting ranges
You can have a shooting range at your home if you want to, but the safety standard regulations that apply are nothing short of draconian! They are just as stringent as for the actual construction of the range. There is no problem if sharpshooters wish to practice their favorite sport alone in their basement, as long as the noise doesn’t bother the neighbors. However, if they invite friends over to organize a competition, the situation then becomes subject to federal law and the shooting range must be approved.

In principle, there is nothing preventing individuals from installing private shooting ranges.
