How long does it take to open an account ?
Home > Swiss bank accounts > FAQ > Before you order > Opening by mail > Time needed

If you come and open your account in person, about 3 hours if we have all the documents.

  1. You contact us to take an appointment.
  2. We check with you that, based on your citizenship, country of residence and some other details we can open you an account. We determine with you which documents will be needed to open the account.
  3. When you come, we meet at Micheloud & Cie and then go to the bank.
  4. The account is opened the same day.

If you open your account by mail, the whole procedure of opening takes about 10 days but this can vary. Here is a breakdown of the various operations needed:

  1. We receive your application.
  2. If we approve your application and receive payment of our set up fee, we mail you documents.
  3. Once you receive those documents, you need to date and sign them. You then have to prepare some other documents proving your identity, your legal address and the economic origin of the money.
  4. Finally, we receive the documents back. If they are complete, your account is opened within 2-3 days. The bank will send you a separate confirmation of the opening of your account.
