If I have a numbered account, can I transfer money to my account to a different name, as long as the account number is correct?
Home > Swiss bank accounts > FAQ > Before you order > Account Question > Different name

No, that is not possible. Numbered accounts exist to protect your privacy, not to mislead others. If you have a numbered account, you can transfer funds to your account by stating the bank's name, address, the account number and the pseudonym or "number". However, you cannot put a bogus name or use a pseudonym that would be deceiving. For example, you could not send to John Doe, #12345678 if your name is not John Doe. The same would apply for a company name, unless the account has been opened in the name of the company. These limitations exist to prevent abuse and they do not affect your privacy.
