On June the 1st, 2002, the bilateral agreement between Switzerland and EU countries came in action.

This agreement has an immigration chapter that gives citizens of a EU country much more possibilities to move to Switzerland.

Many restrictions are lifted as to what you can do once you are a resident, and the criteria applied to decide who can become a resident have been extended.
