| The small print : The Riant Chateau is in the last stages of a major renovation and refit program. Apartments will be ready in about a year. Meanwhile, if you buy an apartment now, you will be able to choose the decor including interior wall and floor coverings and paint work at no extra charge. You will be required to pay a deposit of 15% of the purchase price when you sign the purchase agreement. This money will be held in safekeeping by a notary public (the government official who oversees property transactions in Switzerland) until you take possession of the apartment. When you receive the keys to your apartment, you will be required to pay the rest of the purchase price, once again to the notary public who will then forward the sum to the developer. You can obtain Swiss Franc mortgages at either fixed or variable rates of about 4% a year from a local bank if you wish. The bank will lend up to 80% of the apartment's price to reliable clients.
